Scott LeDoux
Scott is a former heavyweight title contender with a celebrated career
spanning 5 decades, beginning in 1966, as an amateur and continuing
through 2000 when he sparred with World Champion, Lennox Lewis. He is
the only fighter to have boxed 11 world champions. His opponents include
the likes of Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Mike Tyson, Larry Holmes,
Ken Norton, Leon Spinks, Mike Weaver, Jerry Coetzea, Greg Paige and
Frank Bruno.
Scott's journey to the top echelon in boxing was dotted with drama
as his wife fought a losing battle with cancer. For his most important
fight, against Larry Homes for the World Heavyweight Title, Scott trained
at home in his garage to be near his ailing wife.
Since his retirement in 1991, he has served on the Minnesota Boxing
Commission for 18 years and as chairman for two. He continues to be
an advocate for the sport, believing that it is a character builder
for disadvantaged youth. Scott is very active in the Minneapolis community
in his work with Make A Wish, American Cancer Society, Fellowship of
Christian Athletes, and is a color commentator for ESPN sports and Friday
Night Fights.
Scott has been speaking at churches locally and loves the opportunity
to share his faith with anyone seeking to know the Lord. Sharing his
journey that led him to accept the free gift of salvation is one of
the gifts that the Lord has blessed him with. Scott currently lives
in Andover with his wife, Carol. They have 3 grown children.
