Q. How do I decide on which athlete to choose?
A. There are many factors involved, all of which Sports Celebrity Marketing S.C.M. Inc. can assist you with. This includes the objectives of your meeting, profile of the attendees at your event, your budget, the sport preferred, type of event, etc. You may know immediately the athlete you would like, or SCM can prepare a customized short list of appropriate athletes given your direction to the aforementioned questions.

Q. Are there other expenses that my organization is responsible for, in addition to the appearance fee?
A. There could be, dependent upon the parameters of your event. If applicable, the customer is also responsible for any and all of the following costs as necessary: airfare, ground transportation, hotel costs and meals.

Q. Can I get more detailed information on the career of the athlete(s) I am considering?
A. Absolutely! Just send us an email with the information you would like to receive and we will send you the information back quickly.

Q. You don't list the former athlete who I am looking for. Can you contact him for me?
A. There is a good chance that we can. We have an extensive network of contacts through which we can make every attempt to contact your favourite player.

Q. What do you mean by the term "Racial Pioneers"?
A. These athletes are people who were among the first of their race in the sport in which they played. For example, we work with many of the men from the old Negro Leagues. We also work with the first few Black men ever to play in the NHL, along with one who was kept out of the league due to a little known colour barrier in hockey. Additionally, we work with some of the first First Nations hockey players who are to this day heroes in their communities and to First Nations kids everywhere, and finally, we work with a young lady who is only the fourth Black Hollywood stuntwoman in the history of the Stuntwoman's Guild. "Racial Pioneers" was the best term we could come up with to cover this array of circumstances.

Q. How far in advance of my event should I book an athlete?
A. There is no set rule, and it is dependent upon the popularity of the athlete. Obviously, the more popular, the more requests for his services, and the further out he is booked. However, generally speaking, 3 months out is a good timeline in most cases.

Q. When is payment due for the athlete's services?
A. We ask for 25% of the fee to be paid within 10 days of signed acceptance of the agreement in order to hold the date open in the athlete's schedule. The remaining 75% (and depending upon local laws, any taxes due) is due two weeks in advance of the event.

Q. You are a Canadian-based company and I am located in the U.S. Does this cause any complications?
A. None at all. We are an incorporated Canadian company and as such, you have all assurances that we are properly filed with the Canadian government. Additionally, we have a U.S. tax identification number. This will make all your transactions across the border go smoothly. As a note, the majority of our business is actually done outside of Canada.

Q. Will you pass along an email to a celebrity for me?
A. Sorry, but Sports Celebrity Marketing S.C.M. Inc. does not pass along emails to the celebrities.

Q. Will you provide the home address, phone number or email address of a celebrity to me?
A. Again, sorry, but Sports Celebrity Marketing S.C.M. Inc. protects the personal privacy of the athletes with whom we work.
